The MIDAS Project

The MIDAS project is developing and evaluating new methods for Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopic Imaging (MRSI) for clinical research and diagnosis. This includes development of the MIDAS software (Metabolite Imaging and Data Analysis System), which provides an integrated set of MRI and MRSI processing functions. This software supports a "whole-brain" MRSI acquisition method that has been implemented on MRI systems from three major manufacturers.

This project aims to further develop and distribute these capabilities so as to encourage more widespread use of MRSI for diagnostic imaging, standardization of MRSI methods, and improved mapping of metabolite distributions in the human brain. More information can be found here.

This project was initially funded by the National Institute for Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering, Grant Number R01EB00822 and continues to be supported under R01EB016064.
